PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Nb3 Sn superconducting wire which is excellent in processability during wire manufacture and has high resistance and strength, when it inevitably includes an Nb/Cu-Sn alloy composite multiconductor part, in which a filament made from Nb or an Nb alloy material is embedded in an Sn-containing Cu-based alloy material, and a Ta layer or a Ta alloy layer. SOLUTION: The average crystal grain size of a Ta layer on the cross section of a wire is 0.3 to 2.0μm. Alternatively, a Ta alloy layer containing one kind or more selected from among Nb, V, Zr, and Hf, for a total of 0.1 to 10%, is used. Or an intermediate layer 5 made of a metal or alloy whose Vickers hardness is somewhere between those of Ta and a Cu-Sn alloy is formed between an Nb/Cu-Sn alloy composite multiconductor part 1 and the Ta layer 4, whereby this superconducting wire having excellent processability and high resistance and strength is obtained.
