The proposed undulating propeller, which uses the energy generated by the pitch of the vessel (1), is comprised of underwater blades (2?I, 2II, 2III¿) joined together in succession by means of flexible rods (5?I, 5II, 5III, 5IV¿). A blade (2I) is connected to the vessel (1) by flexible rods (4I, 4II), while a second blade (2III) is connected by means of flexible rods (6I, 6II) to a hydrodynamic depressor (3). Each joint by which the ends of the flexible rods (4?I, 4II, 5I, 5II, 5III, 5IV, 6I, 6II¿) are attached to the blades (2?I, 2II, 2III¿) is shaped like a strut (9), and is disposed in a slot (8) so as to be able to rotate about an axis either parallel to or coincident with the span of the corresponding blade (2?I, 2II, 2III¿). When used on various craft, the undulating propeller ensures that the angle of attack of each blade automatically adapts to the changes in speed of the vessel.
|
