<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as an anti-cancer agent, an antiviral agent, etc., in the field of medicines and nucleic acid chemistry, comprising a specific 2-thio-5-halogenopyrimidine arabinoside. SOLUTION: This new 2-thio-5-halogenopyrimidine arabinoside is shown by formula I [B is a thio pyrimidine-based nucleic acid base of formula II (X is chlorine, bromine or iodine) or formula III; R<1> to R<3> are each H or a hydroxyl group-protecting group] (e.g. 2',3',5'-tri-O-t-butyldimthylsilyl-2-thio-5- chlorouracil arabinoside), has anti-cancer and antiviral activities, is effective in the field of medicines and nucleic acid chemistry and is useful as an anti-cancer agent and an antiviral agent. The compound is obtained by halogenating 2',3',5'-tri-O-t-butyldimthylsilyl-2-thiouracil arabinoside, etc., in a solvent in the presence of butyllithium by using N-chlorosuccinimide, etc.</p> |
