1,192,399. Inhibiting corrosion FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. Aug. 9, 1967 [Dec. 14, 1966], No. 36585/67. Heading C7E. Corrosion inside sealed vessels and pipe systems containing water, water vapour or steam is inhibited by adding to the water hydrazine and a water-solube o-or #-quinone compound, in a ratio by weight of quinone to hydrazine, expressed as N 2 H 4 , of from 1:1500 to 1:15. They are suitably added in an aqueous solution comprising 24% by weight of hydrazine hydrate (= 15% N 2 H 4 ) and from 0À01% to 1% by weight of the quinone. Compounds which may be used include o- and p-quinone, naphthoquinones, anthraquinones and their derivatives and their alkali metal salts, pyrocatechol and hydroquinone.
|
