<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as a catalyst component for polymerizing olefins, etc., by reacting a transition metal compound with a fluorenyl compound in a liquid diluent comprising a non-halogenated liquid which is not coordinated with the transition metal of the metallocene. SOLUTION: A new metallocene of the formula [Fl is fluorenyl radical; Cp is cyclopentadienyl, indenyl, tetrahydroindenyl, fluorenyl radical; R is a 1-20C organic radical; R" is a structural bridge binding (FlRn ) to (Cp Rm ); Me is a metal in the groups IVB and VB of the periodic table; Q is a 1-20C hydrocarbyl radical, a hydrocarbyloxy radical, a halogen; (x) is 1, 0; (k) is a number sufficient for accomplishing the residual atomic valency of Me; (m), (n) are each 0-7] [e.g. (1,1-difluorenylmethane)zirconium chloride]. The compound of the formula is useful; as a catalyst component for polymerizing olefins, etc. The compound of the formula is obtained by reacting a noncross-linked fluorenyl compound with CH3 Li and a transition metal chloride in a solvent.</p> |
