<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to pack a PDU according to a status of a host memory that re-configures a received ATM cell into the PDU and saves it. SOLUTION: The controller optimizes the use of a hardware resource and a CPU resource especially such as a host memory space and I/O bus band width, a host memory band width and a memory system band width. The controller, if available, links pointers to a PDU status buffer, a PDU data buffer and a host memory data buffer to write a long burst to a status queue. Furthermore, a plurality of status bundles are packed to the host memory buffer to use a memory efficiently. Another advantage to pack and link information is to save a CPU resource by allowing a CPU to link information to be accessed to an adjacent memory area.</p> |
