Medicinal compositions for treating cardiac diseases caused by cardiac hypertrophy, such as cardiac failure, ischemic cardiac diseases and arrhythmia. These compositions contain, as the active ingredient, substances capable of binding to GC-A which is an NP receptor and promoting the production of cGMP. Examples of these active substances include natriuretic peptides such as atrial natriuretic peptides and cerebral natriuretic peptides.
