Method for fitting a sealing strip to a flange of a sliding-roof opening or similar body openings

Relative movement between the flange (2) and an application mechanism (5) feeds the strip (1) from a roll, positions it on the flange, presses it into place and cuts it off. The application mechanism is height-adjustable on a frame (7) in relation to the frame. The incoming strip is glued to a protective cover (22), and is gripped near the pressure roller (10) of the application mechanism, being then placed on the roller periphery until reaching the position for pressing home on the flange. The strip is separated from the cover and squeezed into rounded openings in the flange, being then cut to length by the signal-controlled application mechanism. Its butt end is rolled into place, after which the application mechanism is moved rearwards to the starting point, rolling it into place under increased pressure.
