LOADWHEEL ASSEMBLY FOR TIRE TESTING SYSTEMS

A loadwheel assembly for a tire testing machine includes a loadwheel (510) with a tire contacting surface supported along substantially its entire circumference by one or more solid discs. The loadwheel (510) consistently measures forces and generates electrical signals corresponding to the forces to more precisely determine tire uniformity. The loadwheel (510), formed as an aluminum weldment which reduces manufacturing costs, rotates about spindles (522, 524) provided with load cells (530, 540) and mounted to a C-shaped carriage (550). The carriage (550) has upper and lower legs (553, 554) with the spindles (522, 524) fixed to one side of each leg (533, 544) such that the load cells (530, 540) are easily accessible from one side of the carriage (550).
