PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly seal two recording heads provided on the same carriage regardless of the difference of a platen gap. SOLUTION: This apparatus is equipped with first and second holders 60, 20 housed in a holder receiving member 40 of which the central part is supported in a revolvable manner by a shaft 41 crossing the moving direction of a carriage at a right angle and first and second caps 65, 75 held thereto. When there is a differenceΔN in level between the surfaces of recording heads 7, 8, the holder receiving member 40 is revolved with respect to a slider and two caps 65, 75 are brought into contact with the recording heads 7, 8 so as to coincide with the surfaces of the recording heads 7, 8 and the difference of the gap lengthΔP with the recording heads 7, 8 is absorbed by springs 61, 62, 71, 72.
