<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the width of a transformer by constructing the transformer so that the arranging surface of the connecting terminals of coils and the route of the magnetic field formed by a core may intersect each other at right angles. SOLUTION: A transformer is constructed so that a C-type core 2 may be positioned below or above a bobbin 1 in the vertical direction. Therefore, the width of the transformer can be reduced by the thickness of the core 2. The route of the magnetic field formed by the core 2 and an I-shaped core become perpendicular to the arranging surface of the connecting terminals 4, 5, and 6 of coils. In addition, E-type cores 7 are positioned above and below the bobbin 1. Therefore, the route of the magnetic field formed by the cores 7 become perpendicular to the arranging surface of the terminals 4, 5, and 6. Therefore, the width of the transformer can be reduced without deteriorating the performance of the transformer and, in addition, a discharge lamp lighting device having a narrow width can be obtained by using this transformer.</p> |
