1277849 Making metal alloy catalysts by leaching; electrodes electrolytic oxidation SIEMENS AG 1 May 1970 [10 May 1969] 21140/70 Headings C7A C7B and C7D A mixed metal catalyst (for use in electrodes in fuel cells or electrolyzers) is made by leaching out the Al from an alloy composed of Al, Ni, Mo and one of Hf, Ti, Zr, Nb and Ta and consisting at least partially (e. g. at least 70% by weight) of a homogeneous quaternary phase. Suitable starting alloys are: - The alloys may be homogenized (e. g. at 500- 1100‹C.) prior to leaching and may be oxidized thereafter (e. g. electro-chemically by polarization to 100-1000 mV or by air, oxygen or H 2 O 2 solution). |
