<p>The sugar content of vegetable products, such as sugar beet, sugar cane and maple, is determined continuously by (a) measuring the input weight C of the vegetable material, (b) extracting the sugar contained in this material and obtaining a sugar juice, containing the major portion of the sugar present, and a residue containing the remainder of the sugar, (c) continuously measuring the volume J as well as the sugar content of the juice, (d) separating the liquid contained in the residue and measuring the sugar content of this liquid and (e) determining the sugar content S of the vegetable material by applying the equation: S=JxS / C + p, in which p is the % of the sugar in the liquid separated from the residue.</p> |
