A device for the rapid inflating of an air bag is proposed that has a box (1) wherein a mixing chamber (2) is found with at least an exit opening (3) towards the air bag, a gas to pressure (4) container contained in the box which exit opening (5) is closed by an exploding plate or disk (6), an impulsion load recipient contained in the box with an impeller load and a lighter or exploder (9), which exit opening (10) is closed by a projectile (11) wherein the gas to pressure recipient and the impulsion load recipient are placed in such a way that the projectile accelerates in the direction of the exploding disk destroys the exploding disk and the gas to pressure and the impulsion gas can flow to the mixing chamber, when lighting the load impeller (8). The device is in that the box between the impeller load recipient (7) and the mixing chamber (2) providing a projective short guide channel (14) and the exit of the impeller load recipient (7) has an exact calibration with respect to the perforation (13) which empties in the projectile guide channel (14) and the projectile (11) is placed in the projectile guide channel directly behind the strangulation perforation seen in the gas flowing direction.
