A cylinder element for an internal combustion engine of the diesel type, the maximum combustion pressure of which at full load exceeds 100 bar, includes two layers of Al-bronze sprayed-on on top of each other, the outer layer of which being a running-in layer (37) having an average hardness of at the most 330 HV20, and the subjacent layer being a wear layer (36) having an average hardness exceeding that of the running-in layer and being at least 130 HV20.
