A vehicle rear axle comprises arms oscillating about an axis (X-X') transverse to the vehicle. The ends of the arms opposite the wheels are respectively fixed by their ends to first and second tubes (3,4) mounted in trunnions coaxial with the transverse axis. The internal ends of each tube engage and rotate in each other. The compensator (8) is controlled by a rod (7) the ends of which are fixed by a shackle (5) which fixes two parallel rods whose respective ends are subject to the clearance of the tubes. The ends of adjacent rods are articulated to the same fastening (6) on one of the tubes.
