A process for producing a composite material comprising at least two layers is described, at least one layer (1) of which consists of a ceramic compound, by moistening the raw materials and additives for the layer (1) of ceramic compound, mixing it and pressing it to form a green layer. Weak boundary surfaces are formed on the green layer and the layers are pressed together to form a composite material. The drying and firing of the composite material follows. The green layer is compacted by rolling to form the weak boundary surfaces. The pressing together of the layers to form the composite material is carried out by a further rolling operation.
