A weft inserting device (30) using a profiled reed (32) for an air jet loom is equipped with a plurality of reed pieces (33) each having a C-shaped guide notch (34). The line of guide notches (34) forms a weft passage (T) where weft injected from a main nozzle (35) flies. Each guide notch (34) has a upper wall (341) parallel to the floor surface on which the device is placed, a deep wall (342) perpendicular to this surface, a lower wall (343) which gradually becomes wider toward an opening, an upper connecting portion (344) which connects the upper wall (341) to the deep wall (342), and a lower connecting portion (345) which connects the deep wall (342) to the lower wall (343). The radius of curvature of the upper connecting portion (344) is set equal to or smaller than 1 mm, and the radius of curvature of the lower connecting portion (345) is set greater than the radius of curvature of the upper connecting portion (344). $$
