An attachment system for tube ends in hte holed floor of a heat exchanger, bearing the tubes formed into bundles which are exposed to through flows of aggressive or corrosive fluid media such as sea or brackish waters, has the tube ends set back from the front surface of the holed floor such that conversion of laminar fluid flow to turbulent flow occurs via a wave type edge turbulence. The tube floor is constructed from a corrosion resistant material at least in the region where this wave type edge turbulence occurs within the holes of the floor.
