Windscreen wiper for a motor vehicle

The wiper has an elongated component (10) made from cut and folded metal sheet with an inverted U-section formed from two vertical side members (12) and a crosspiece (14). At one end of the component the crosspiece has a zone (16) of reduced thickness (e), giving it a curved outer surface and a flat inner surface. The zone of reduced thickness has a tongue (20) for connecting it to a noise damper (26). The noise damper consists of a moulded plastics body shaped to fit inside the elongated component and having an outer ridge (32) which extends the component lengthwise. The elongated component has slots (24) cut in its side walls to receive matching projections (30) on the noise damper.
