PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image fiber capable of obtaining high picture quality, and superior in flexibility, in a highly dense image fiber by forming a jacket layer with a transparent resin layer. SOLUTION: The conduit type image fiber is provided with a picture transmission part 3, on the outer circumference of which a transparent resin layer 4 is arranged concentrically, with the further outer circumference covered by a light absorbing resin layer 5. In this case, the Young's modulus of these covering layers is made sufficiently larger than that of the image transmission part 3. The image transmission part 3 is constituted of a core 1 for transmitting light and a clad 2 that transmits no light, with the clad 2 commonly composed for each core 1. In this image fiber, a member for holding a fiber, i.e., the jacket part is a transparent resin layer 4. As a result, a highly flexible image fiber can be obtained without reducing the diameter of the image transmission part 3. |
