PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized optical pickup system with more simple structure. SOLUTION: This system includes a light source 210 for generating a light beam consisitng of P- and S-polarization components, a λ/4 plate 230 for converting the polarization component of the transmitted light beam, and a beam splitter 220 for allowing the P-polarization component only to be used for reading out an information signal recorded on an optical disk 250 by making the P-polarization component reflect facing to the optical disk 250 through the λ/4 plate 230 and the S-polarization component reflect in the other direction different from the direction facing to the optical disk 250. |
