<p>The router has a table of addresses (4) which form part of a learning process. The addresses are applied to a second layer of LAN interfaces. A bridge processor (3) forms links to produce virtual LANs, combining cells in an arbitrary manner. A number of relays (5) are created which can be operated individually, allowing optimisation of routing through the network. A packet memory is used to store data, with temporary memory used to store queued data awaiting transmission.</p> |
