An adjustable cutting device (10) is provided which includes a first lever arm (14) having an anvil element (20) attached to one end thereof, a second lever arm (18) pivotally connected to the first lever arm (14), a gripping component (22) attached to the second lever arm (18), a third lever arm (28) pivotally connected to the first and second lever arms (14, 18), a blade (26) attached to the third lever arm (28) and means (34, 36) attached to the third lever arm (28) for adjusting the distance between the anvil element (20) and the gripping component (22) to the size of an object (40) to be cut. The first and second lever arms (14, 18) are actuated to adjustably grip the object (40) between the anvil element (20) and the gripping component (22) and the blade (26) is actuated to sever the gripped object (40), the severed portion being retained between the gripping component (22) and the anvil element (20).
