PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nip forming unit that can provide good heating efficiency while maintaining stable travel of a fixing member, and contributes to resolving the problem of remelting and fastening of a residual toner.SOLUTION: A nip forming unit 18 comprises: a nip forming member 22 that is provided inside an endless fixing member 14 having flexibility and supported rotatably for forming a nip that holds and conveys a recording medium S between the fixing member 14 and an opposing member 16 facing the fixing member 14; a fixing heat source 28 that heats at least the center part of a paper feed area in the longitudinal direction of the fixing member 14; and an end heat source 24 that is provided on the nip forming member 22 to heat the inside of the ends in the longitudinal direction of the fixing member 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
