A method for preparing temperature- and hydrolysis-stabilised polymers is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of heat-treating at least one reagent which includes at least one double bond, has at least one C6-24 aliphatic radical and is functionalised with at least one grouping including oxygen, nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus or a combination thereof; and chemically treating the resulting material with an agent that reacts with the carboxylic acid functions therein. The stabilised polymers prepared according to said method, and the use of such polymers as lubricants or lubricant additives, plasticisers or thickeners, are also disclosed. |
