A supporting band (1) for a pair of spectacles, designed to pass round the back of the wearer's neck to prevent the spectacles from being dropped or lost, comprises a cord or tape with its two ends made in the shape of tubes (2) of an elasticated material which fit over the spectacle frame side-pieces (5). Each of the tubes (2) has a lengthwise opening, with its edges fitted with fastenings in the form of sliding clasp fasteners (3), strips of 'Velcro' (RTM), or other. The tube can also be lined with an elastic or non-slip material.
