PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pearl by which a sufficiently large pearl is produced in a short period without a skillful means by a specific method using an organism derived from a unicellular organism capable of secreting viscous secretion integrated with a mantle gene of a shellfish capable of forming a forming layer of a pearl. SOLUTION: This pearl is produced by accumulating a forming layer of a pearl on the outer periphery of a nucleus made of a bit of a synthetic resin, a clamshell, a ceramic, a wood and a metal by using an organism obtained by integrating a gene of a unicellular organism (e.g. Escherichia coli) or an ultramicrobe capable of secreting viscous secretion with a mantle gene of a shellfish (e.g. Pinctada martensii) capable of forming the forming layer of the pearl in seawater or freshwater rich in a calcium ion, a magnesium ion and another metal ion for forming the forming layer of the pearl, etc., and anions such as a carbonate ion in a vessel. The pearl is preferably produced by propagating the above organism in the first vessel including the seawater or freshwater rich in the metal ions and the anions to form the viscous secretion and pearl component, further condensing the viscous secretion and pearl component and transferring the condensed material to the second vessel to form the forming layer of the pearl to accelerate the formation of the pearl. |
