Process for injecting gas into a flowing liquid comprises injecting it into a diffusion device (5) and emitting it though a perforated, elastic diffusion membrane (17) made of rubber, around which the gas moves in a spiral direction, so that it contacts a liquid stream. Also claimed is a device for carrying out the above process comprising a gas injection chamber (4) containing a cylindrical gas diffuser (5). An injection tube is provided and the diffusion device has perforations which allow the diffusion of very small bubbles. A component (3',8) gives the liquid stream a rotating movement.
