PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for carry out ring alkylation of the subject compound to a ring-alkylated aromatic amine in high para selectivity by reacting an N-alkyl aromatic amine with an olefin or an alcohol in the presence of a specific catalyst. SOLUTION: (B) An N-alkyl aromatic amine (e.g. whose alkyl group is 1-7C) is reacted with (C) an alkylating agent (e.g. 1-7C alkylating agent) which is an olefin or an alcohol in the presence of (A) a catalyst containing a zeolite such as pentasil type, mordenite, beta type or faujasite. Furthermore, the reaction is carried out in 0.1-10 molar ratio of the components B/C at 200-400 deg.C at 0.01-10hr<-1> weight space velocity in a liquid phase. |
