PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE OF THERMOSETTING RESIN AND METAL OXIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to partly raise the metal oxide content by introducing a metal alkoxide into the inside of a partially cured thermosetting resin and heating them to effect the polycondensation of the metal alkoxide and the curing of the resin. SOLUTION: A thermosetting resin is heated to partially cure it so as to give a degree of curing (wt.%), defined by the formula (the weight of resin component insoluble in an organic solvent/the total weight of thermosetting resin)×100, of 10-98wt.%. This resin is immersed in a solution containing a metal alkoxide to introduce the metal alkoxide into the inside of the resin and then heated to 50-300 deg.C to effect the polycondensation of the metal alkoxide and the curing of the resin, thus giving the composite wherein the ratio of the maximum value of the content of metal oxide having a particle diameter of at most 200nm to the minimum value thereof is at least 1.5:1.
