PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow one device to reproduce video audio data of an MPEG2-PS form and an MPEG2-TS form by individually decoding a video packet and an audio packet demultiplexed through the use of a specific 1st or 2nd data decoding means. SOLUTION: A type 1 use data read section 101 reads contents of a medium 1 in compliance with the MPEG2-PS form in every unit of sectors and a type 1 use data decoding section 102 decodes the contents and edits into a PES packet to outputs it. A type 2 use data read section 104 reads type 2 use data in compliance with the MPEG2-TS form in the unit of TS packets and a type 2 use data decoding section 103 decodes the contents and edits it into a PES packet and outputs. A demultiplex section 105 checks the contents of each packet and demultiplexes into PES packets of compressed video data and compressed audio data. A compressed video audio data expansion section 106 decodes the packets and expands them into an original video audio signal.
