PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately effect differential limiting performance in a range from lower speed to higher speed with an improved responsiveness even by a light, simple device. SOLUTION: A differential limiting device is provided for a differential gear comprising in its differential cases 1 and 2 pinion gears 4 rotatably journalled to a pinion shaft 3 perpendicular to the rotation axis of the differential cases and a pair of side gears 5 and 6 meshing with the pinion gears 4 from both sides in the axial direction as bevel gears. The differential limiting device suppresses the relative rotation of the side gears 5 and 6 to the differential cases 1 and 2 by the meshing reaction force between the pinion gears 4 and the side gears 5 and 6. A plurality of brake bands 7 are arranged in the space defined by the inclined back faces of the side gears and the inner side faces and peripheries of the differential cases 1 and/or 2, for braking the inclined back faces of the side gears and the inner side faces and peripheries of the differential cases 1 and/or 2 through the cam effect of the inclined back daces of the side gears which axially move by the meshing reaction force between the pinion gear 4 and the side gears.
