The method involves using at least one illumination arrangement and camera above or above and below the transport plane of the wooden items through an inspection station. Inspection takes place during interruptions of the transport motion. The wooden items are transferred from a transverse to a longitudinal conveyor inside the inspection station, each item is longitudinally displaced by a defined length in a selected direction and the upper plane surface illuminated and its image acquired. The items are returned to the transverse conveyor. USE/ADVANTAGE - For inspecting rectangular wooden items with plane surfaces using simple illumination and image acquisition arrangements and without significantly increasing conveyor path length. |
