Manure, sewage sludge, refuse etc. are disposed of by a method in which material is preconditioned through prodn. of optimum mixing conditions for compositing, with a water content of 60-65 wt.%, pH value of 6.5-7, C/N ratio of 20-30:1, and a bulk density of 600-800 kg/m3. Composting is carried out in an aerated reactor with constant movement at 65-78 deg.C for several days, reducing water content to 20-30 wt.%. Conditioning is carried out at 28-38 deg.C and relative humidity of 90% for 10-14 days with water content adjustment to 20-30 wt.%. ADVANTAGE - Accelerated composting in economic process.
