The object of the invention is to provide, as an a general resin composition excellent in balance between impact resistance and transparency, a rubber-modified aromatic vinyl resin composition which, when formed into a sheet item, allows the anisotropy of its strength to be lowered. The present rubber-modified aromatic vinyl resin composition comprises rubbery elastomer parts in the form of particles and straight-chain, branched, or network rubbery elastomer parts which are dispersed in an aromatic vinyl polymer, the surface mean particle diameter of said rubbery elastomer parts in the form of particles (limited to those having a major diameter/minor diameter ratio of from 1 to 2) being 0.1 mu m or less and the average thickness of said straight-chain, branched, or network rubbery elastomer parts being 0.04 mu m or less.
