PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting flywheel fixed shaft cooling method which can efficiently cool the heating of a low-temperature motor for drive and recovery with simple constitution. SOLUTION: Rotating a superconducting flywheel by surplus power energy with a low-temperature motor for drive and recovery will generate the coil 28 of the low-temperature tank 30 for drive and recovery and heat LN2 . The heated LN2 gas enters a a storage tank 34 through a gas pipe 35 from above a hollow fixed shaft 20, and is stored in the storage tank 34, being liquefied on the spot or liquefied outside. On the other hand, LN2 within the storage tank 34 is supplied into the hollow fixed shaft 20 by static pressure through a liquid pipe 36 under the storage container 34. That is, the coil 28 is cooled by LN2 being naturally circulated by the heating of the low-temperature motor 30 for drive and recovery, so the insulation breakage of the coil 28 of the low- temperature motor 30 for drive and recovery is prevented.
