摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque sensor, wherein the torque detecting characteristic has a similar curvature change as an auxiliary steering force characteristic and the formation of a unitary body together with a steering angle sensor is easy, the torque detecting method and a compact and low-cost power steering device. SOLUTION: In a torque sensor, a shaft 1 and a shaft 2 are linked by a torsion bar 3 so that the shaft can be relatively rotated. Both shafts are supported by a cylindrical case 4 freely rotably. At the outer surface of the end part of the shaft 2, a ring-shaped multipolar magnet 5 is fixed in the concentric pattern with the shaft 2. At the outer surface of the end part 1, a Hall element 6 is fixed so as to face the multipolar magnet 5. A yoke 7 is fixed in the vicinity of the boundary of the NS poles of the multipolar magnet 5. When the torque is not applied, the magnetic flux from the multipolar magnet 5 passes in parallel on the magnetism sensing surface of the Hall element 6. When the large torque is applied, the magnetic flux passes approximately vertically. This is the torque detecting method, wherein these operations are performed. This power steering device has the above described torque sensor.</p>
