PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of the crack in the leading end of a tip end and the deformation of the opening part at the leading end of the tip by fitting a ball composed of a non-plated material in a ball mounting hole and caulking the leading end part of the tip before applying electroless plating to at least the surface of the leading end part. CONSTITUTION:A ball 2 is fitted in the mount hole of a ball point pen tip 1 and, thereafter, the leading end of the tip 1 is caulked inwardly to form a caulking part 1a and the ball 2 is held by the caulking part 1a and a receiving seat 1b. The ball 2 is composed of a non-plated material. Thereafter, the ball point pen tip 1 is immersed in an electroless plating solution to provide a plating layer 3 to the surface of the ball. The electroless plating layer 3 is pref. composed of a nickel-phosphorus alloy or a nickel-boron alloy. By this method, generation of a crack in the plating layer 3 of the leading end caulking part 1b can be prevented and the opening part of the tip 1 is deformed. |
