PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramics compsn. reduced in the number and diameter of voids in the sliding face of a slider and satisfying the sliding characteristics of a magnetic head for high density recording. SOLUTION: This ceramics compsn. consists of 100 pts.wt. principal compsn. consisting of 30-50mol% CaO and 40-70mol% TiO2 and 0.65-3.6 pts.wt., in total, of 0.5-3 pts.wt. MgO, 0.1-0.5 pt.wt. ZrO2 and 0.05-0.1 pt.wt. SiO2 as additives, has 100×10<-7> -130×10<-7> / deg.C coefft. of thermal expansion in the temp. range of 100-500 deg.C and gives a slider having 3-4μm grain diameter, <=2μm diameter of voids in the sliding face and a Vickers hardness Hv of 928-939. When this slider is used, the surface of a magnetic medium is not damaged because foreign matter does not enter the voids in the sliding face of the slider. |
