PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently prepare a disease-resistant plant by transducing an actinomyces chitinase gene into a plant of the genus Agrostis and transforming the gene. SOLUTION: A protoplast of a plant of the genus Agrostis for the purpose of transformation and a plasmid containing an actinomyces chitinase gene are both suspended and the plasmid is transduced into the protoplast by a polyethylene glycol method, an electroporation method, etc. A cell or a cell packet is formed and an adventive embryo or an adventitious bud is formed from the cell or the cell packet thus obtained. A transformant of a plant of the genus Agrostis is regenerated from the adventive embryo or the adventitious bud. In a transduction by a particle gun method, the actinomyces chitinase gene together with a metal particle is driven into the cell packet. The gene is transduced into the cell packet, the cell packet is formed and a disease resistant plant of the genus Agrostis is regenerated similarly in the above-mentioned manner.
