PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a wide range of reduction rate without employing a motor or a motor driver with high performance. SOLUTION: A carrier roller 2 is driven by a motor 11 and an original 1 is carried in the sub-scanning direction. A reflected light by one line of the original 1 lighted by a light source 3 is collected by a lens 4 and the collected light is given to a photoelectric conversion element 5. The image data converted into an electric signal by the photoelectric conversion element 5 are given to an image processing circuit 6, in which image processing such as shading correction and MTF correction is implemented and the resulting image data are given to a recorder 8 or a facsimile circuit 12. The received image data are printed on recording paper in the recorder 8 and the facsimile circuit 12 compresses the image data and sent from a telephone circuit. The original image is reduced by varying the scanning speed of the original and using the image processing circuit 6 to select or abort read data. |
