PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly expand a second expansion area by withdrawing an arm of an occupant from the expansion locus of an air bag body by means of the air bag body if the arm is on a door belt line when the air bag body expands. SOLUTION: An air bag body 22 is provided with a breaking yarn 32 which inclines upward toward the front of the vehicle from near the underside 30A of a seatbelt 30 located above the shoulder 24C of the occupant 24. The air bag body 22 causes its first expansion area 34 to expand toward the front of the vehicle at the early stage of expansion and, if the arm 24D of the occupant 24 is on the belt line 38 of the vehicle, pushes the upper arm 24E out forward from behind. The breaking yarn 32 breaks on completion of the expansion of the first expansion area 34, allowing a second expansion area 36 to expand upward roughly along the seatbelt 30. |
