PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the spatters (particulate melts) of a high temp. generated at the time of laser beam processing, such as drilling, from splashing to the periphery of a laser beam machine. SOLUTION: This laser beam machine executes removal processing, such as drilling, by irradiating the processing point of a work with a laser beam while supplying an assist gas to this processing point through a laser beam processing head which contains a laser beam converging lens and has a gas ejection nozzle at its front end. The outer peripheral side of the laser beam processing head 2 is equipped with a hood 7 for preventing the splash of the spatters which is drawn out of a retreat position to locally enclose the circumferential area near the point of the work 4 to be irradiated the laser by a lifting driving mechanism consisting of a rack 8, a pinion 9 and a driving motor 10 at the time of laser beam processing. The spatters of the high temp. generated at the time of laser beam processing are confined into this hood and are thus prevented from splashing to the surroundings. |
