FLAT ELEMENT

The claimed flat element (10) is used for directed moisture transport and moisture storage and has an air-permeable base (14) provided with an adsorbent. The flat element (10) also has an absorbent moisture-holding non-woven fabric layer (12). The adsorber base (14) and non-woven fabric layer (12) are joined together by needling (16) and flat relative to an air-permeable composite material (22, 22'). The needling (16) is aligned from the non-woven layer (12) to the adsorber base (14). The tufts (18) of the needling (16) extend from the non-woven layer (12) to the adsorber base (14) and through the adsorber base (14). The tufts (18) create a wick effect for the moisture which optimises moisture transport to the non-woven layer (12). In the case of saturation of the non-woven layer (12), excess moisture is held in the adsorbent of the adsorber base (14).
