System for detecting the removal of a tablet (64) from bubble packaging, comprising a package collection device (10) that contains a hole for exposing areas of the packaging on opposite sides and for allowing the tablet to be removed by applying pressure to one side of the package pocket containing the tablet, such that the pocket breaks on the opposite side and the tablet is removed. A sensor (22, 26) located in the collection device outside the packaging area and near to the pocket emits a signal that creates a circuit for detecting the removal of the tablet. A flexible strip (54) lies between the two sensor heads and breaks the circuit when the tablet is in the package, but when the tablet is removed the strip is pressed down and removed from the region between the two sensors to complete the circuit. The collection device and flexible strip components for this system are also claimed.
