The spectacle frame (1) has a main frame (3) resting on the nose of the user. The main frame has surrounds (5) with hinges (2) at the top to receive a secondary lens unit (4) which fits in front of the main lenses. The secondary lens unit can be turned into a fixed raised position when not in use. Each frame hinge is in two sections. The hinge section (17) on the main frame has a central recess (23) and a lateral recess (28). The hinge section (18) on the secondary lens unit has a projection to engage with the central recess, which slides into place through the lateral recess. Two lateral projections (31,32) are able to engage with additional radial recesses (24,25,27) in the main frame hinge section to hold the secondary lens unit in different positions either in front or above the main lenses. Both the main frame and secondary unit can carry correcting and/or filtering lenses.
