The reel (1) comprises a reel body (2) whose upper face (3) has a connecting leg (4) to a fishing rod (5). The reel body carries a line recovery reel (6) which rotates on a longitudinal shaft (I). The recovery reel is oscillated longitudinally by an internal transmission mechanism activated by a crank (8) rotating on an intermediate transverse axle (9). The longitudinal shaft is braked by a reel brake which is adjusted by a rotating brake adjustment knob (10). The knob is placed on the upper face of the rear part of the reel body and rotates about an oblique axis (II) in the reel median longitudinal plane. The reel body has a rear part (15), behind the connecting leg and the transverse intermediate shaft, with shaped lower (16) and upper (17) faces constituting a second hand grip. The palm of the hand can be put under the lower face and the fingers meet on the upper face.
