Transforming coordinate system of measured object into coordinate system of reference object

The transformation method involves orientating the coordinate systems w.r.t. the properties of the objects. For each of a first reference object and a second object, the centre of gravity and the main inertial axes are determined. The origin of the coordinate system is then fixed at the centre of gravity thus determined, and the inertial axes serve as axes of the coordinate system. The transformation involves the translation of the origin of the second object to the origin of the first object. The axes of the coordinate system of the second object are then, by means of rotation, mapped onto the axes of the coordinate system of the first object.
