PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate battery characteristics without manufacturing a battery by measuring the contact heat of a carbon material being tested and an organic solvent, and evaluating electrode capacity characteristics based on the correlation previously examined. SOLUTION: An organic solvent is filled in a measuring container of a twin type calori-meter to which a blade operable from the outside is fixed, and a carbon material sealed in a polyethylene bag is immersed and sealed. Until the measuring container and a reference side container become equal temperature, they are allowed to stand at room temperature. After reaching equal temperature, the polyethylene bag in which the carbon material is put is broken by operating the blade from the outside to mix the carbon material with the organic solvent, and contact heat generated is measured. When the contact heat is small compared with heat of vaporization, a cover of the container is sealed with an O-ring in order to hold airtightness of the measuring container. By using the contact heat, the electrode capacity characteristics of the carbon material is evaluated based on the previously examined correlation. |
